Whale Hill Community Association

Based on Whale Hill estate, Eston serving the community of 1500 residents. Service is run from a community centre which was established in 1983 and is situated next to a row of shops facing the large Birchington Avenue roundabout.

Description and Activities:
The Association supports local groups who use the centre for activities such as playgroup, Senior Citizens group, Youth Club, childrens disco, Slimming World and Dance classes. Additionally the centre is used for training and educational purposes, social opportunities etc. We have meeting and conference facilities and up to date training resources as well as a modern ICT suite. We also offer a catering service.

Our Aims and Mission is:
To benefit the inhabitants of Whale Hill and neighbouring areas by offering services that promote personal development and address social isolation.

To work in partnership with local voluntary, public and private sector agencies to facilitate and deliver learning, training and leisure time opportunities.
To liaise with training providers and educational establishments to facilitate, monitor and evaluate training provision.

To promote activities which encourage social inclusion and community cohesion and are aimed at improving the conditions of life for residents.

To offer support, advice and guidance to unemployed residents and facilitate training and personal development opportunities with the aim of improving employment prospects.
